The Veranda and Croquet Lawn

Front of Orua Wharo This shot is of the north face of Oruawharo taken from a point just above and at the end of  the 'Croquet Lawn' looking toward the veranda seen in the photograph below.   The lawn is often used for playing croquet on though Oruawharo rules probably bear little resemblence to the official rules.

High use is made of this section of the house and property during summer.

Shaded by a huge and ancient wisteria vine, the veranda is one of the more pleasant places to spend a summer day.   It is a superb place for a leisurely breakfast followed by an even more leisurely morning.

Occasionally during the afternoons it can get too hot, even in the shade, to stay on the veranda for any length of time but it usually cools down enough to enjoy a few pre-prandial Perfect Martinis by late afternoon/early evening.
