This
shot is of the north face of Oruawharo taken from a point just above and
at the end of the 'Croquet Lawn' looking toward the veranda seen
in the photograph below. The lawn is often used for playing
croquet on though Oruawharo rules probably bear little resemblence to
the official rules.
High
use is made of this section of the house and property during summer.

Shaded
by a huge and ancient wisteria vine, the veranda is one of the more pleasant
places to spend a summer day. It is a superb place for a leisurely
breakfast followed by an even more leisurely morning.
Occasionally during the afternoons it can get too hot, even in the shade, to stay on the veranda for any length of time but it usually cools down enough to enjoy a few pre-prandial Perfect Martinis by late afternoon/early evening. |
